Featuring a Costume Contest and Artist Chip Spirson
On Friday, October 18 from 5pm-9pm followed by an after pARTy starting at 9pm-11pm, Gallery Night Pensacola will provide frightful fun with its Halloween Spooktacular themed event. The evening encourages ghouls and gals to come out in their festive Halloween finery to enjoy art, music, food, activities and more.
A children’s (13 and under) and adult’s costume contest will be held at our main stage on Palafox and Garden Street at 6:30 p.m. (contestants should arrive at 6:00 p.m. for judging). A panel of judges will select top 5 contestants and winners will be decided by audience applause. Winners will receive a Gallery Night spooktober medal as well as a prize! Live dance performances by Go Get ‘Em Entertainment will provide spooky and skilled dance performances at the corner of Intendencia and Palafox throughout the evening.
Gallery Night Pensacola will also include the work of artist Chip Spirson. Spirson is a Pensacola based artist who works in many media, including painting, sculpture and up cycled found objects. His inspirations come from observations of daily life. He has the ability to take an abundant amount of information of the natural / social world and synthesize personalized interpretations. His compositions are valid inquiries into things that are. “Look beyond familiar characters and techniques to find reflections of the human condition.” Said Spirson.
Chip Spirson has won best of shows, judges awards and is listed in the Creek Hall of Fame. He was honored to also have a sonata composed to his one of his paintings by the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra. Patrons can see Spirson’s work and meet him at the guest artist tent, located on Palafox St. between Garden and Romana Streets during the Gallery Night event.
