January’s Gallery Night Pensacola Celebrates The Lunar New Year!

Featuring Chinese Lanterns, Dancing Dragons, and More!

On Friday, January 17 from 5pm-9pm Gallery Night Pensacola will celebrate the Lunar New Year! UWF’s International Programs and the Office of Equity and Diversity have teamed up with Gallery Night Pensacola to celebrate the Year of the Rat, with more than 250 Chinese Lanterns hanging above the streets of Downtown Pensacola.

This month’s theme features artistic performances by Big Green Drum Double Dragon Dance, Bayanihan Youth Group – traditional Filipino dances, Pearl of the Orient (Penscola Fil-Am) – traditional Filipino dances, Emerald Coast Okinawa – Taiko drum, Red Envelope Parade, UWF Korean Language Class – Gayageum & fan dance, UWF Asian-American Student Union (BibimBop, Fashion Show, etc.), Tai Chi, Lion Dance and more. Funding for these performers is provided in part by the John C. Pace Symposium Series. Event patrons will even have a chance to meet the performers have their picture taken with the dragon!


The artist areas includes more than 35 fine artists, and craftsman, five food trucks, kids activities in the new family friendly zone, and live music venues along Palafox Street (from Garden Street to main street), and Jefferson street (starting at Intendencia Street). Artistic mediums to include glass, paint, woodworking, jewelry, and mixed media and more. In addition to arts and activities, downtown restaurants, galleries and shops will be open extended hours encouraging patrons to come and explore our award winning downtown. The streets will be closed and patrons can freely walk down Palafox Street along with connecting cross streets to enjoy this FREE community arts and culture event.
