January’s Gallery Night Event Celebrates The Lunar New Year!

Featuring Chinese Lanterns, Dragons, Drums, and More

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Jan. 11, 2022) — On Friday, January 21 from 5pm-9pm, Gallery Night Pensacola will celebrate the Lunar New Year! Gallery Night January 21 is presented by Publix.

UWF’s International Programs and the office of Equity and Diversity has once again teamed up with Gallery Night Pensacola to celebrate the Year of the tiger with more than 150 Chinese Lanterns hanging above the streets of Downtown Pensacola. This month’s theme features artistic performances, cultural demonstrations, drummers, and activities for children. 


Gallery Night Pensacola welcomes the Matsuriza Japanese Drummers as this month’s featured artists. Traveling all the way from Orlando, Florida, these enthralling cultural performers can usually be found banging the drums at the Epcot theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort . The Matsuriza drum troupe will play authentic traditional form of Japanese drumming that has been played for more than 2000 years. Come witness the thrill of Taiko for yourself.
Additionally, performing during the evening’s event are Lion Dancers, Big Green Japanese Drum Martial Arts, a Cultural Fashion Show and more! Check social media for full event schedule.

Each Gallery Night event features more than 30 local artists displaying their one-of-a-kind creations in open-air tents lining the streets. Participating downtown bars and restaurants are open and serving guests, local  shops and galleries will be open late and provide event patrons a chance to shop for  unique gifts and wares. Live music and Lunar New Year performances will be on various stages and locations, they can also spring up spontaneously – so be ready to be entertained!

Each Gallery Night Pensacola event’s special themes set the tone for the performers, art, musical performance stages and activities that are sure to please. Gallery Night is an all-ages community arts and culture event which happens on the third Friday of each month from 5-9 p.m. 

The Pensacola Gallery Night Board encourages mask usage for those who are not vaccinated or are at high health risk.
