Gallery Night Pensacola has once again teamed up with the Downtown Improvement Board to celebrate International Park(ing) Day by providing 5 parking space along the Gallery Night route that will be converted into parklets. International Park(ing) Day is an annual event that was created in 2005 by art and design studio, Rebar as a way to encourage community members, students and designers to take metered parking spaces and liven up city streets. Motivated by the desire to activate the metered parking space as a site for creative experimentation and cultural expression, Park(ing) Day offers a fun opportunity for members of the community to create temporary installations, with a mission to encourage people to imagine the positive impacts of green spaces in urban areas. Our Gallery Night, guests will be able to enjoy the 5 parklets and cast a vote for their favorite. |
Gallery Night Pensacola will also include the work of artist Jarrod Reiss. Reiss is a Pensacola native who studied at the University of West Florida. Jarrod broke away from creating figurative work after college in favor of these isometric architectural drawings as a way to learn to draw more from his mind than through observation. Reiss really enjoys model-making, scale replica, video game and board game hobbies. “This type of drawing is a way of channeling all of that into art that I can be proud of as a reflection of myself.” Said Reiss. |
