Gallery Night Artists displaying work on Palafox Street in Downtown Pensacola

Tracy Carpenter

This month’s featured artist is Pensacola, Fl photographer Tracy Carpenter.

Carpenter has always had an interest in photography, but her passion was fueled when she began Photography classes at Pensacola State College where she recently received her AS in Photography. Tracy plans to continue her education and hopes to convey messages of emotional and social awareness through her art, using many different photographic processes to accomplish this goal. Tracy has received awards for her photography and her work has been shown in multiple galleries and has been published in
magazines.

“Lumens are created using a camera-less contact printing process with photographic paper and
organic materials. This process creates beautiful, sometimes abstract pieces of art that are
engrained with the natural elements of the flowers that are used to make the image.
Flowers are used to adorn many special moments in our lives from first dates, weddings, even
funerals. The flowers that represent these significant moments will wither quickly and many
times be forgotten.

I’ve created unique pieces of art using the Lumen process along with flowers that have
sentimental meaning. I treasure every opportunity I get to create custom Lumens, using others
flowers and extending the moments they represent far beyond the life of the flowers
themselves.”

You can view more of Tracy’s work, as well as see a photography collection she is featured in at Luna Fine Art Gallery on Pensacola Beach. The show runs until October 4.
