Akiko Yamamoto and Yen Shan Lien

Originally from Yamaguchi (west Japan), Akiko serves as the Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI) Coordinator for the University of West Florida. Her work aims to promote learning about Japan and its rich culture through a variety of hands-on and experiential programs. Since coming to UWF in Fall 2023, Akiko has led community workshops in Japanese lifestyle, calligraphy, origami, traditional tea ceremonies and more!
