Gallery Night Pensacola’s August Event Celebrates Woodstock

The 50th Anniversary of Woodstock and featured artist Austin Garcia

On Friday, Aug. 16 from 5pm-9pm followed by an after pARTy, 9pm-11pm, Gallery Night Pensacola will once again close Palafox Street (from Garden Street to Main Street) in Downtown Pensacola and provide open streets for patrons to explore and enjoy music, art, food and more.

Gallery Night Pensacola is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock. This iconic music festival shares a place in history and merchants, artists and patrons can don their tie-dye, crochet, hiphuggers, bell bottoms, flowers in your hair, headbands and fringe and be a part of the FREE art and music on the streets of downtown!

The Youth Music Project stage, sponsored by Stevenson Klotz, will showcase young musical talent starting at 5pm and the Vista Event Karaoke stage, sponsored by Bob Tyler Toyota, DR Horton Homes and Wild Greg’s Saloon, will get kicked off at 6:30pm. The karaoke stage will be located at the intersection of Palafox and Garden Streets and will feature throwback cover band Honey Daze.

Gallery Night Pensacola’s July featured artist is Austin Garcia. Austin Ruiz Garcia is a Pensacola-based muralist, painter, ceramicist and hairdresser who specializes in bold design and adventurous color palettes in every creative avenue of his life. 

Garcia’s mural work has been featured twice at Cubed Gulf Coast, an event sponsored by Foo Foo Fest. He has also decorated the iconic Graffiti Bridge with his art and has grown his following online, focusing on his hairdressing career. Most recently, you can see Garcia completing a mural at Salon San Carlos where his ceramics are also on display. 

Garcia’s ceramic work including whimsical mugs and bowls have been featured at Barehand Collective’s First Friday event and will be the focus of his featured artist booth at the August 16 Gallery Night event.

Gallery Night events bring “Art To The Streets” with 30 fine artists, craftsman, five food trucks, and live music venues. Artistic mediums to include glass, paint, woodworking, jewelry, and mixed media. In addition to arts and activities, downtown restaurants, galleries and shops will be open extended hours encouraging patrons to come and explore our “Groovy” award-winning downtown.
