What: “Pensacola Project Runway” Competition: Call for Designers
When: During Gallery Night Pensacola’s September 15th “Art of Fashion” Event
Call for Fashion Designer Applications are NOW OPEN through Friday, August 11, 2023.
RULES & REGULATIONS:
WHO MAY ENTER
Entrants must be at least 18 years of age by Sept. 15th, 2023, or if under the age of 18, must have expressed permission within the application.
HOW TO ENTER
To enter electronically, please visit gallerynightpensacola.com to register. Once the registration process has been completed, you will receive an email confirmation. No mail-in entry is available for this contest.
Each completed design, in its entirety, must be original material created by but not necessarily manufactured by the contest entrant. By entering the contest, the entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that they have full power and authority to enter the work, and that the work does not infringe on any copyright or violate any other intellectual property rights.
Contestants will be selected by a Juried Committee at the discretion of Gallery Night Pensacola.
All Applicants will be notified and announced by Monday, August 14, 2023.
COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS
• Contestants are required to create a mood board, sketches, and two original and completed clothing designs based on the theme – “From Sand To Sassy.”
• Contestants must submit 180 seconds of music of their choice which will be played during their segment of the fashion show by Sept. 10, 2023.
• Contestants are required to supply their own models, hair, and makeup.
• Contestants will be required to post, and tag Gallery Night with “teasers/updates” at least twice during design/production leading up to the Gallery Night event.
• Contestants will be required to provide design sketches by August 31, 2023.
• Contestants will have models in original designs walk the runway.
• Contestants will provide explanations of inspiration, materials, and techniques used.
• Contestants will be required to answer any questions provided by the judging panel during runway show/ competition.
COMPETITION PRIZES/AWARD
The Winner will receive a prize package, including a feature in an upcoming 2024 issue of Bella Magazine with an approximate retail value of $2,500. Actual/appraised value may differ at time of prize award. The specifics of the prize shall be solely determined by Gallery Night Pensacola. No cash or other prize substitution shall be permitted except at Gallery Night Pensacola discretion. The prize is non transferable. No substitution of prize or transfer/assignment of prize to others or request for the cash equivalent by Winner is permitted. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission for Gallery Night Pensacola to use Winner’s name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
JUDGING
• Contest consists of your two original designs which you show during the Fashion Showdown runway show.
• The panel of Judges will each review designs the day of show.
• Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, quality of designs, and styling during the show.
CONDITIONS / RELEASES
ALL ENTRANTS grant Gallery Night Pensacola (the administrator) and their designees, licensees or affiliates (the “Authorized Parties”) a nonexclusive, worldwide license, through September 2023, to reproduce, distribute, display and post the entries online so that viewers may view all competing entries. In addition, the FINALISTS grants to the Authorized Parties a license for use of his/her winning entry in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest, in any media now or hereafter known, including but not limited to, print or digital publication showcasing the winners, and promotions related to the contest for an unlimited time. Authorized Parties will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such use.
ALL entrants will adhere to Gallery Night Pensacola’s Rules. Gallery Night events are a family-friendly event; therefore, we ask that the designs and designers refrain from any and all vulgar or offensive language.
RIGHT TO CANCEL OR SUSPEND CONTEST
If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned beyond the control of Gallery Night Pensacola, the organization is not responsible for expenses made by the entrants.
Hold Harmless Agreement
In consideration of the undersigned being permitted to participate in “Gallery Night Pensacola” events governed by its “Sponsors” by the Gallery Night Pensacola Board of Directors and the City of Pensacola, the undersigned does hereby release and forever discharge the Sponsors and each of their employees, officers, directors, and agents, jointly and severally, from any and all actions, causes of action, claims and demands for, upon or by reason of any damage, loss, injury or death, or damage to or loss of property arising out of the abvoesigned’s participation in Gallery Night Pensacola’s event. This release extends and applies to, and covers and includes, all unknown, unforeseen, unanticipated and unsuspected injuries, damages, loss and liability, and the consequences thereof, as well as those now disclosed and known to exist. The provision of any state, federal, local and/or territorial law, or statute providing in substance that releases shall not extend to claims, demands, injuries or damages which are unknown or not suspected to exist at the time, are hereby expressly waived. The undersigned agrees on behalf of itself, it’s successors, assigns, and sublicenses to indemnify the Sponsors and their employees, officers, directors, and agents, jointly and severally, and to hold them harmless from and against any and all actions, claims, demands, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses of whatever nature and kind, including attorneys’ fees, which may be at any time incurred by them or any of them in connection with the participation in Gallery Night Pensacola events by the undersigned and the abovesigned’s staff, guests, visitors, participants, and invitees. Sponsors shall have no liability for any damage to property, or injury or death to persons arising out of the participation in Gallery Night Pensacola events. The undersigned agrees to inform all its staff and event participants that the undersigned and such staff, participants, guests, or invitees of the undersigned assume all risk of loss or injury arising out of participation in Gallery Night Pensacola events or related activities. The undersigned agrees to be responsible for any damage caused to the Sponsors by the participation of the undersigned and further agrees to abide by all policies established by the Sponsors in connection with Gallery Night Pensacola events.
